buy it buy it!
they have such reasonable upgrade prices.
i love them.
ableton said: Live 3 brings a new world of possibilities to your compositions, loops and samples by giving you control inside of the sample. Easily change individual notes or a specific part of your sample. Instantly draw volume, pitch, pan, effects controls and more on any portion of a sample. Add dynamic musical expression to your previously static samples. Live 3 allows you to create infinite variations from just one sample in real-time -- anything from subtle corrections to entirely new and exciting sounds.
it's cheaper to upgrade from 1.x than from 2.x ?

I love Live 3. you can now play your samples up and down your midi keyboard (and use live like a modular synth), and do a ton of great stuff inside your samples. A+++

Ok, I always thought Live looked kinda fun, but never really got into it so much. NOW it looks fucking COOL. If they would include VST instrument support I think I might need to clean my underwear as it'd be right up my alley.

it should have been 2.x , not 3. too few new features (yes yes envelopes in each sample is a big new thing but..) .

I wasn't able to test version 3 but it seems a great update. Live might be a real 'keeper' for the future.

is there a reasonfor them not to add vst/pianoroll support ?
have they told something about that ?
if anyone knows something..

there is no reason for a vsti/pianoroll feature because it's for playing LIVE. sequence your stuff on your sequencer and play those loops

The official statement they gave was that it would take too long and keep these (Legato, sample-level modulation, new FX) frome seeing the light of day when they could do a version bump and allow the masses to use these tools. Acording to one of the Abletons, VSTi support and MP3 support (my #1 wish) will be in the next version (4). Or tentatively, anyway. I was hesitant to buy the bump, because I want/need MP3 support to save my little HD some space (10 gigs of samples, you know), but after playing with it a bit, and weighing the better VST capabilities, i got it. It is a little buggy, but with a bigger buffer, it seems to run well with Reason in Rewire.
4 of 5 stars, 2 thumbs up, but my first born will have to wait...

i'd like to see VSTi support so i could use patterns instead of waves - that would really open up live performance possibilities.
i also think the Abletons themselves are the only ones who could do it right. i'm hoping for a sister app to slave to Live.

bitmap: there is sure resons, have you ever used synth in your live performance ? it's amazing you know. it would be really awesome. And live isn't just for live, i compose and arrange my final tracks into live. if i could make them entirely in live, it would be really great.
but i really understand the will of ableton of developing their audio capabilities bafore inserting any vsti thing in their program.
