EM411, short for Electronic Music 411 (411 = info, just as 911 = emergency), was started in April 2001 for the purpose of giving electronic musicians a place to discuss their tools and their craft. Think of it as a Electronic Music Makers community, anyone can submit reviews of hardware, software, music, you can also submit patches, details of your studio, a report of your live shows and more. There is also an exciting monthly feature called mixit wherein users submit a pool of samples and then have 3 weeks to make a track and then 1 week to get feedback on their tracks. EM411's strength is in it's users, everyone keeps the site a fair, mature (well, usually) and great community of electronic musicians. Over the years we have expanded by allowing users to host tracks as well, allowing people to setup their own webpages and get feedback on their music. This feature, called 'emPages', allow users to have their own blogs, showog, discog, forums, mixit participation, an RSS feed and all submitted tracks will be shown on the frontpage, thus ensuring that you not only get listens, but feedback as well. emPages are the only feature that requires a fee for usage (to cover the bandwidth incurred by file hosting), everything else is free. You can also talk to other electronic musicians in your area, check out events in your area, and gobs more. Have a look around, and if you're not a member, it takes 15 seconds to signup and is absolutely free, allowing you to talk to locals and to the EM411 community in general. The site is maintained with a focus on sharing knowledge. If you have any EM related questions or are simply looking for a community to talk about EM with, then you've found the right place. Thanks for stopping by. -em
