those guitars and basses that 30-something prog rock guys always play, that you can tell cost about 7,000 dollars.

they typically are made of very ornate woods, have excessive amounts of pickups, flashy hardware, and a few more strings than normal.

then, to top it off, the music is technically excellent, but no good.

i think ive hated every instrument at one point. depends on the track.
sometimes i HATE brass...so cheeeeesy/nasty. but other times the brass part is great and i dont hate it.
one thing that pisses me everytime i hear it, more than any instrument is the obligatory metal 'double bass drum'!!!
OMF i canot stand that sound. and it is totally pointless.
specially when the rest of the track is at normal speed/time signature with a double bass drum going ba.ba.ba.ba.b.b.b.b.b.b.b.b.bbbbb.ba.ba machinegun fast over the top of it.
