i just bought autechre's "draft 7.30" because everyone raves about it.
Seriously tho... this is largely unlistenable. please, please, please tell me why you like this music? it is painful and aimless.
i will award an undisclosed prize to the person who can most eloquently defend this release and show me its merits.

totally agree. track 2, "IV VV IV VV VIII" is VERY gantz graf though, particularly within the last minute. that satisfied me.

i think if you have heard a smattering of their various albums, you would realize that their tastes have changed quite considerably... "rpeg" off EP7 sounds nothing like their newer stuff in terms of general "brightness".
that's the first reason why it is not true that their timbres are the same.
next, listen to "surripere" off draft 7.30 (if you have a copy). frankly there's a world of difference between the bass, the clicks, the waves of sound, the slashing sounds. if you still claim that the timbres of the various sounds used in this song are the same then you should either check your ears or check your prejudice

draft 7.30 is not my favorite ae record but it's OK. there is some amazing sound design on it. it's very nicely crafted. confield bored my pants right off but has some interesting bits on it. honestly, I
LOVE everything prior to confield. LP5 is insanely good as is EP 7.1 and 7.2.. fucking brilliant. graft granz is mind boggling.
